A WALK AROUND ENNIS

MARCH 21, 2026
ENNIS, TX
FUJIFILM Xe-5

Ennis is a small town just south of Dallas known for its bluebonnets that blanket the fields around the area. I found out about Ennis last fall when I went to the Texas Motorplex to watch NHRA drag racing. On the way to the race, I passed through the downtown area, and immediately noted it as a place to shoot when I found a free weekend. I was hoping to catch photos of the bluebonnets blooming, but it turns out that April is really the time to see them in full bloom. Instead, I decided to venture around the downtown area, doing a typical street shoot like I normally do. Ennis is much like any other Texas small town, although this one seemed to span a few blocks farther than some of the other small towns I visited. The architecture and harsh sunlight made it perfect to attempt the “film look” in post that people love so much today.
