There have been alternative sofa designs explored to challenge the traditional sofa archetype, such as the Eames Compact Sofa designed to solve issues of shipping. Sofas like these, however, are more similar to a bench than a sofa. By defining a “sofa spectrum”, it is possible to define a target for a new sofa design that solves the problem of moving whilst maintaining a desired level of comfort.
