Majority of the brainstorming was focused on construction related issues, since it seemed that the problem with moving sofas was architecture-related. Things like seat profile, leg attachment, framework development, and manufacturing methods were informants to the product's design. Almost all of it was spurred by skateboard design. Originally, the idea of a skateboard-shaped seat was a mechanical thought. People plop on couches, and a skateboard's cross section supports immense high-impact loads. A couch seat with a similar cross section could support a hefty plop, but the need for springs to soften the seat further relegated the skateboard influence to purely moving-related issues and form inspiration.
